Harrogate CAB takes a big step towards it’s new home

Harrogate CAB in the Advertiser CAB have now completed on the purchase of our new building. The building is shortly to be demolished and a new purpose designed property built.

We are still seeking help in the form of donations in the form of funds or sponsorship towards fitting out the building and we would be extremely grateful for any help from residents or businesses in the Harrogate district.

London Marathon runners wanted by Harrogate CAB

Harrogate Citizens Advice Bureau are currently fundraising to create a bespoke advice bureau in the heart of Harrogate.

We are looking for 2 marathon runners to support us by running on our behalf and helping us to raise vital funds.

So, if you are wanting to run the London Marathon and are not as year supporting a charity, how about helping your local Citizens Advice Bureau? CAB T-shirts etc provided!!

Volunteering Oscars 2011

Volunteering Oscars 2011 Pat Shore, Chair of Harrogate Citizens Advice Bureau was awarded the highly coveted award at the recent Harrogate and District volunteering oscars.

Pat was presented with a gold oscar statue and a “highly commended” trustee of the year framed certificate.

As usual Pat commented that “the award is for all the work that the trustees, staff and volunteers put in at Harrogate CAB”

Harrogate CAB nominated for Social Policy Oscars

We are happy to announce that the Harrogate CAB has been shortlisted for the 2011 Social Policy Oscars.

Our nomination is within the Best report or publication category for our work on the cost of school uniforms and school trips. – The report was written by Kaz Mills from our bureau.

The winners will be announced at 9pm on Wednesday 14 September at the annual conference in York.

Nominated for Third Sector’s ‘Britain’s Most Admired Charity’ award

The Citizens Advice service has been nominated for Third Sector’s ‘Britain’s Most Admired Charity’ award.

Other categories in the awards include ‘Most Admired Charity Chief Executive’, ‘Most Innovative Charity’ and ‘Celebrity Charity Champion’.

Chief Executives of charities and voluntary organisations are casting their votes by 22 August to determine the winner
